The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held its Undergraduate Admissions Information Day yesterday (the 17th), attracting a large number of students and parents. Long queues were seen throughout the campus. Lau Sin-nga, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, said at an admission talk that the median scores of 80% of programmes increased this academic year, but stressed that scores remained stable. Recent heated discussion over nurses "struggling to find jobs" has caused some students to express concern, though they noted that different industries also face saturation issues, and preferred to choose subjects based on their own interests.

📈 Median Admission Scores Rose for 80% of Programmes; Scores Stressed as Stable
CUHK held multiple admission talks and guided tours on campus, with crowds of visitors in many areas; the Basic Medical Sciences Building even saw long queues for lifts. CUHK will offer 71 programmes with a total of 81 majors next year. Speaking at the first admission talk, Lau Sin-nga mentioned that among the 70 programmes this academic year, the median admission scores of 80% recorded an increase. She stressed this was not because "fewer were admitted," pushing up scores, and that overall admission scores remained stable without "big swings," which may reflect an improvement in candidates' abilities. CUHK offers more than 3,000 JUPAS places, and she advised students to choose programmes based on their own interests and abilities, and not to feel frustrated or anxious because of rising scores.

🏅 New "Leap Forward Scholarship Scheme" Encourages Outstanding Students to Study in Hong Kong
CUHK has newly launched the "Leap Forward Scholarship Scheme" this year. If students meet the faculty selection criteria when applying for undergraduate admission, the university will consider them together and undertake to waive tuition fees for their study in a designated full-time taught postgraduate programme. Lau Sin-nga explained that the new scholarship aims to encourage outstanding students to study in Hong Kong and articulate to a taught master's programme after completing their undergraduate studies; both local and non-local students will be considered. She also mentioned that CUHK attracts half of Hong Kong's top medical talents, as well as 170 full-scorers in international examinations.

🌟 Associate Vice-President: Opening Dreams, Building the Future
Associate Vice-President (Student Experience) Ko Wing-hung said that university is an important starting point for dreams to sprout and grow. This year's Information Day adopted the slogan "Opening Dreams, Building the Future," with the message that students should not only find their preferred subjects but also discover their dreams and direction.
