🌍 Hong Kong Sends 41 Competitors, Its Largest-Ever Delegation
The WorldSkills Competition is held every two years by WorldSkills International and is the world's largest skills competition. Hong Kong has sent 41 competitors this year, its largest-ever delegation, participating in 37 skill areas covering construction, engineering, information technology, design, services and catering, among others. Choi Yuk-lin affirmed the competitors' efforts during preparations and encouraged them to turn this international competition experience into a foundation for their future development.
📈 Education Bureau Allocates Additional Resources to Expand Selection Scope and Strengthen Publicity
To support the delegation in achieving further success at the WorldSkills Competition, the Education Bureau has allocated additional resources to the VTC to strengthen preparations, including expanding the selection scope, arranging non-local training and competitions, inviting past medal winners to share their experiences, and strengthening publicity and promotion to raise the social status and international recognition of vocational and professional education.
🤝 Meeting with WorldSkills International CEO
Choi Yuk-lin then visited the WorldSkills Expo, receiving briefings on vocational and professional education development and skills training outcomes, and met with WorldSkills International CEO David Hoey to exchange views on international trends in skills development. Choi Yuk-lin said the WorldSkills Competition provides an internationally recognised platform for competitors to demonstrate professional skills and on-the-spot adaptability on the international stage. The Education Bureau will continue to encourage vocational and professional education students to participate in activities, broaden their horizons and enhance their professional skills and industry knowledge.
