Good Hope School, a prestigious Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) girls' school, has officially announced details for Form 1 admission for the 2027/28 academic year! The school will accept online applications from 12 October to 13 November 2026, 12:00 noon. With outstanding academic results and strong sports and arts performance, the school attracts a large number of parents applying for their daughters every year. 📅 Form 1 Application Schedule and Selection Weighting at a Glance

Parents interested in applying must open an account on the school's online system and upload relevant documents; all documents must be combined into a single file for submission. The application period is from 12 October to 13 November 2026, 12:00 noon. Required documents include a photo, identity document, Primary 4 to Primary 6 report cards, and a personal portfolio of no more than 8 pages of A4 paper. The application fee is HK$75.

Initial Selection (60% of total score) criteria are:

1. Academic results and conduct (40%)

2. Extracurricular activities, special talents and school service (20%)

Successful applicants will be notified by email on or before 31 December 2026 to attend the first interview.Applicants with outstanding sports or music performance will be invited to skills tests or music auditions. Athletics, badminton, fencing, table tennis and tennis tests will be held on 28 November 2026; swimming, basketball, football, volleyball and music auditions will be held on 5 December 2026.

First Interview (40% of total score) will be held on 9 January 2027 (Saturday), testing students' problem-solving logic and communication skills in English and Putonghua. Second Interview will be held between 25 January and 5 March 2027, where invited students and parents will meet the principal, vice-principal or senior teachers. The school will notify successful and waitlisted applicants by email on or before 31 March 2027.

Good Hope School Principal Dr. Gary James Harfitt previously said that the interview values students showing confidence and their true selves. The first interview includes individual and group segments in English and Putonghua to assess academic ability; the second interview meets students and parents, using casual conversation to understand family interaction and educational philosophy. Dr. Harfitt revealed that he can tell whether a student has memorised a script or is giving a "rehearsed answer." If he notices scripted answers, he will interrupt and change to other topics (such as a recently read book) to test genuine speech organisation and English ability. He reminded students not to be afraid of talking to a foreign principal, and especially reminded parents not to answer on their daughter's behalf during the interview: "I understand parents are nervous, but I hope they let their daughter perform." Vice-Principal Chau Chi-hung added that the school values home-school cooperation, and parent-child interaction is a key observation point.

📚 Three Major Programme Features

First, DSE top scorers + IGCSE dual-track programme. The school has a strong academic culture and outstanding DSE public examination results, having produced top scorers in 2013, 2018 and 2023. To provide more flexible pathways, the school has offered the UK IGCSE curriculum since the 2023/24 academic year. Form 2 students may take IGCSE English, Mathematics and Science, among other subjects. The school hopes that students interested in IGCSE can complete six subjects' courses and examinations during Form 2 to Form 4, then focus on the DSE, combining local and international articulation advantages.

Second, outstanding sports and arts performance + all-round discovery of student potential. In addition to excellent academic results, Good Hope students have won numerous awards in inter-school music festivals, speech festivals and athletics competitions.
