The Research Grants Council recently announced the results of a new round of the "Competitive Research Funding Scheme for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector." A total of 58 research projects at Metropolitan University were approved, with total funding of about HK$38.6 million, accounting for about 43% of the overall funding amount. Both figures have ranked first among all self-financing institutions in Hong Kong for four consecutive years. It is also the only institution to receive funding under the "Collaborative Research Fund for Institutional Development" category, with both the number of approved projects and the funding amount reaching record highs.

🎓 First Time Approved with the Most Projects in All 5 Subject Panels
This year, Metropolitan University was also, for the first time, the institution with the largest number of approved projects in all five subject panels under the "Faculty Development Scheme." Four "Inter-institutional Development Scheme" projects led by Metropolitan University received over HK$1.85 million in funding, an increase of 28% over last year.

💬 Lam Kwan-sing: A Testament to Academic Foundation and Innovative Spirit
President Lam Kwan-sing said that Metropolitan University's another outstanding performance in the funding scheme is a testament to the solid academic foundation, research strength and innovative spirit of the university's teaching and research teams. The university will continue to invest sufficient resources to optimise the research environment and encourage scholars to carry out more forward-looking applied research with social value.
