🗣️ Interview Has Two Main Components: Testing Separation Anxiety and Basic Responses
St. Clare's Kindergarten will arrange interviews for all applicants. The interview is conducted in the form of conversation and play, and must be attended by a parent. First component (observing separation and independence): the child and parent will first be arranged to play separately in a room equipped with toys and books. Teachers will observe the child's reaction when separated from the parent, whether there is severe separation anxiety (such as crying loudly), whether the child can play independently, and whether they will fight over toys with others. Second component (basic responses and parent exchange): teachers will ask the child basic information (such as name, age) and general knowledge questions (such as identifying colours, fruits and objects), and invite the child to complete simple operational tasks to observe hand-eye coordination and language development; at the same time, they will talk with the parent to understand the family's educational philosophy and companionship situation.
💡 Parent Tips: School Places Great Emphasis on Politeness and Self-Care Ability
The school places great emphasis on politeness, high self-care ability, concentration and following rules. Even if the child momentarily falters during the interview (such as suddenly forgetting an answer), if they show a good learning attitude and ability to follow along, writing a letter of appeal (knock-the-door letter) afterwards to show sincerity may still give them a chance to regain a place.
🏫 Articulation Advantage: Up to 80% Direct Progression to Affiliated Primary School
St. Clare's Kindergarten and St. Clare's Primary School have an affiliated relationship, and the primary section gives priority admission to some kindergarten graduates. Based on past experience, the proportion admitted to the primary section is generally 60% to 80% (depending on each year's student performance, conduct and places available), offering high primary school articulation security. In terms of teaching, the school advocates "free play," focusing on cultivating children's spirit of self-directed learning and avoiding excessive pressure to study. An appropriate amount of parent-child homework is arranged to strengthen parent-child relationships and interest in learning. At the same time, the school also places considerable emphasis on children's daily politeness, life routines and self-care ability training, laying a solid foundation for future transition to primary school.
